Voted Chicago Musician of the Year in 2005, Michelle
Areyzaga will perform the world première of the serenely
beautiful Tenderness Songs for Soprano, Oboe and Strings by Gwyneth Walker. Composed in 2008, Tenderness Songs uses the text by Gabriela
Mistral, a Chilean poet who won the Nobel prize in 1947. Gwyneth
Walker is one of the most celebrated composers of our time and
has a special niche in the vocal genre.
